Managing your library

Your library lives on the MusicBox's microSD card, not on your phone. So every phone paired with the MusicBox sees the same one.

Everything happens in the app, with your phone on the same Wi-Fi as the MusicBox.

Creating a playlist

On the home screen, tap "+", give the playlist a title, then tap "Create". Two playlists cannot have the same name.

Adding tracks

Open the playlist and tap "Add tracks". Your phone opens its files: choose one or more.

Send MP3, the only format the MusicBox can play. The app refuses files larger than 100 MB. If a file already has the same name, it offers to rename it, replace it or skip it.

Changing the order and removing tracks

In the playlist's "⋯" menu, tap "Edit". Drag a track to move it, or drag it to the left to remove it. Tap "Finish editing" when you are done.

Outside editing, a track's "⋯" menu also offers "Delete". The app asks you to confirm.

Renaming or deleting a playlist

The playlist's "⋯" menu offers "Rename" and "Delete Playlist".

Deleting a playlist also detaches it from its card. Inserted into the MusicBox afterwards, the card gives two orange blinks: it is no longer linked to anything, and you can pair it with another playlist.

Changing a playlist's card

Under the playlist's title, the card pill offers "Change". Insert the new card into the MusicBox: it replaces the old one.

A letter every two weeks

The project told straight, one Thursday morning out of two. What I build, what ships, and the mistakes along the way.
