Troubleshooting the MusicBox
Start from what you see. For each symptom, here is what the MusicBox can detect, what its light shows you, and what fixes the problem.
No sound
The volume is all the way down
Turn the dial: the blue LEDs that light up show the level. At the very bottom of the range, no LED lights up.
A track is skipped, with no light
The MusicBox only plays MP3: a file in another format is skipped silently. Convert it, then send it again.
A track is skipped, with an orange light
The file could not be opened on the microSD card: it is missing, or the card reads badly. Send the track again from the app.
A red light right from startup
The microSD card or the audio did not start. Switch the MusicBox off, check that the microSD card is pushed all the way in, and switch it on again.
A card starts nothing
The card is unknown
It is not linked to any playlist, or its playlist was deleted. Link it in the app.
The playlist does not start
The card is recognized, but its playlist cannot start: it is empty, or the microSD card reads badly. Open the playlist in the app and check that it has tracks.
An update is installing
Cards are ignored until the installation is over. Wait for the light to turn white again.
No light at all
Check that the card is properly inserted in the slot, and that it is one of the compatible models.
The app cannot find the MusicBox
Once set up, the MusicBox announces itself on your Wi-Fi network, and the app looks for it on that same network. Check that your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi as the MusicBox, then tap "Rescan".
On iPhone, the app needs access to the local network: in the iPhone Settings, Privacy & Security, then Local Network, turn TMB on.
As a last resort, add it by hand with its name on the network or its IP address. Its name is shown at the end of the first connection, in the form name.local.
The MusicBox does not connect to the Wi-Fi
A light that blinks slowly in magenta means the MusicBox has never managed to join a network yet: go through the first connection again.
It needs a network protected with at least WPA2 and visible in the list: an open, WEP or hidden network will not work.
If it was already connected to a network that can no longer be reached, you need to reset it to give it a new one.
Sending music fails
Sending goes over Wi-Fi: the phone and the MusicBox must be on the same network. Keep the app open until the upload is finished.
The app refuses files larger than 100 MB. Send MP3: it is the only format the MusicBox can play.
The MusicBox refuses the upload when it has no microSD card or when there is not enough space left on it. If the connection drops, the app retries on its own three times.
The MusicBox restarts on its own
If its software stays stuck for more than a minute, the MusicBox restarts by itself. After the startup bar, it carries on normally.
If it keeps happening, write to us and note what you were doing just before: that is what helps us most.
